Buy versus subscribe: a small firm's case for owning the AI it uses.
For a long time, the only way to get a piece of software was to buy it. Then for a long time, the only way to get a piece of software was to rent it. Subscriptions made sense for software that genuinely needed to be operated by someone else. AI does not.
